Being a cancer patient, stress is not my friend.   Few things relieve my anxiety and bring me to a Zen-like state like baking.   Slapping on my IPad Shuffle with some of my favorite music, I get lost in the recipe.  Taking the time to make sure that I really experience every part of the process.... shopping, measuring, mixing, baking, tasting and then my favorite part..... sharing.   Baking my way through a cookbook has been on my "bucket" list (though I hesitate to use the term "bucket" list... bad Karma)... for a long time.   Done the skydiving, ziplining, marathoning, etc, etc.... a rush for sure.    I was told recently that leaving a legacy is important if indeed things take a turn for the worse....my children and grandchildren are paying attention on how I handle things from hear on out.     Seems kinda silly I know...but baking centers me thus ultimately helping me to make better day-to-day choices.

  5. Hi Evy -- I love your post. I find zen moments throughout the baking process, too. I love the exactness of baking. Your photo is great with the hatchwork of the cooling rack. Nice touch!

  8. Baking is my haven! I start to get ansty when I go several days without turning my oven on (even in this miserable heat). I love the solitude of it, focusing on each task until, voila...a tasty treat has been created. I am a cancer survivor and wish you the best of luck with your treatment. Happy baking! Your cookies look great!

  9. Baking therapy is the best! (Eating sweets as therapy doesn't suck, either.) Great job on the cookies, and positive vibes sent your way.
